Majlis -e- ilmi Foundation

Research and Reference Education Organization & Library since 1948

Executive Director Message

Libraries are invaluable repositories of knowledge and wisdom, preserving the intellectual heritage, research, and collective experiences of generations. Books, in turn, serve as humanity’s most trusted guides, loyal companions, and powerful instruments of intellectual and moral development. The habit of reading not only enriches knowledge, awareness, and insight but also cultivates research aptitude, critical thinking, character formation, and intellectual growth. It is for this reason that nations maintaining a strong culture of reading and a deep connection with libraries are often at the forefront of academic, intellectual, and civilizational progress.

The Majlis-e-Ilmi Foundation has been rendering distinguished services in the fields of scholarship, research, and publication since 1931, a legacy that remains a source of immense pride and honour for us. In the contemporary era, there is a pressing need to further strengthen and expand this intellectual movement that promotes book culture and the habit of reading. By fostering a deeper engagement with knowledge and research among younger generations, we can contribute meaningfully to the development of a well-informed, enlightened, cultured, and intellectually resilient society.

About Majlis Ilmi

The Majlis-e-Ilmi Foundation was originally established in 1931. Following the creation of Pakistan, the institution was relocated from India to Pakistan in 1948. Since then, it has remained steadfast in its commitment to advancing scholarship, research, and intellectual discourse, making a significant contribution to the country’s academic and educational heritage.

Among the Foundation’s most distinguished achievements are its scholarly publications. To date, it has produced more than forty-eight high-quality academic and research-based works that have earned recognition as authoritative references among scholars, researchers, and intellectual circles.

However, the identity of Majlis-e-Ilmi extends far beyond its publishing endeavors. Its library stands as one of Pakistan’s most respected and enduring centers of learning and research. For decades, it has served as a valuable intellectual resource for scholars, academics, students, writers, and researchers.

Eminent religious scholars representing diverse schools of thought, distinguished intellectuals, university professors, literary figures, poets, researchers, political and religious leaders, legal professionals, judges, and government officials have all benefited from its rich scholarly resources and research facilities.

The Majlis-e-Ilmi Library houses an invaluable collection of more than 30,000 rare and significant volumes in Urdu, Arabic, Persian, and English. This extensive repository encompasses a wide spectrum of disciplines, including Qur’anic Studies, Exegesis (Tafsir), Hadith and its methodology, Biographical Evaluation of Narrators (Asma al-Rijal), Seerah of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, Islamic Jurisprudence and Legal Theory, History, Lexicography, Biography, Economics,  Mysticism, Ethics, Arabic and Urdu Literature, Comparative Religion, Classical and Modern Philosophy, Science and Religion, Sociology, Theology and Creed, Poetry, Education, Madrasa Studies, Women’s Studies, and numerous other fields of intellectual inquiry.

As a result, the library has earned a distinguished reputation as a leading center for academic research and scholarship. More than 700 faculty members, researchers, and students from universities and religious institutions across Pakistan have successfully completed M.Phil. and Ph.D. research projects with the support of its resources. The Foundation continues to provide academic guidance and research assistance with the same vigor and dedication that have characterized its mission for decades.

The Foundation’s publishing program and its remarkable library complement one another in promoting scholarship, nurturing intellectual awareness, and preserving the rich legacy of knowledge. With more than forty-eight scholarly publications and a collection exceeding 30,000 volumes, Majlis-e-Ilmi stands as a testament to academic excellence, research integrity, and a lasting contribution to the intellectual development of society.

Quote

Those in the know know that a banking institution is a commercial institution whose aim is to earn wealth through a particular business and Matumal has to increase more, and the special business for which it was established is to transact zero cash. And that certain people of the society can borrow money at a low rate of interest. And to give money to some people at a higher interest rate and earn wealth from the difference in interest rate.

This means that it is not a blessed organization whose purpose is to create free service without any compensation and earn reward.
